Swaging is now available by Crusader Hose

Swaging is not only a safe and secure attachment method for hydraulic hose, but a popular and cost-effective one for many of our high-pressure layflat hose. Our recent investment in machinery has given Crusader Hose the capability to swage couplings in-house. Swaging is available for hose diameters from 1” to 8” and is ideal for layflat hose.

Wire whipping-a technical and skilled method

Wire whipping is a mechanical hose-binding technique. Incorporating high-quality steel wire, the hose-binding machine maintains consistent wire tension as it wraps around the hose, securing the fitting. Wire whipping is not only secure but light-weight and gives the option of cutback and refitting the coupling if necessary.

Although it is strongly recommended that hose and fittings are assembled by the same manufacturer, we do fit customer supplied couplings. In these instances, testing the full assembly is a requirement. Testing certificates will be issued. Certification fees apply.

Emu Clamp fitting system for layflat hose

The Emu Clamp, manufactured in non-corrosive aluminium, is a secure high-pressure fitting for layflat hose. The clamp is made of three segments that bolt together with simple equipment.

Tested in our laboratory to 2500 kPa, the coupling will not blow off when fitted according to the prescribed torque setting, so you can pump with confidence. The Emu Clamp must be paired with specially machined Emu coupling tails as conventional rolled-tailed Bauer or Flanges are incompatible.

Emu Clamp for aluminium

The Emu Clamp, made of forged aluminium, is available in 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12” diameters. With a torque setting of 90nM, the clamp will hold securely up to 2100kPa.

Bauer Emu tail coupling set – galvanised

Emu-tailed Bauer couplings are available in galvanised steel in diameters of 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12”. The Bauer closure and O-rings limit the working pressure to 1000kPa.

Flange Table E to Emu tail – galvanised

Emu-tailed Table E flanges in 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12” are available in galvanised steel. Table E Flanges have a working pressure of 1400kPa.

Boa Clamp fitting system for layflat hose

When you need a secure clamp for your layflat hose with a built-in foolproof fitting system, look no further than the Boa Clamp system. This non-corrosive aluminium clamp consists of three segments that bolt together with simple equipment.

Paired with a Boa coupling tail designed with its unique feature, fitting the Boa Clamp is foolproof. A location rib on the coupling tail assists in the ideal placement of the clamp, making fitting layflat hose pipelines on-site simple and reliable.

The Boa has also been engineered to accommodate the life cycle of layflat hose. It will hold securely when the hose is new and tight and when it needs to be refitted on hose that’s slightly stretched after years of service. The unique mating sections prevent potential leaking after a refit.

Boa clamps are suitable for Bauers and Flanges with coordinating Boa tails.

Boa clamp – anodised forged aluminium

The Boa clamp is the king of clamps boasting a secure working pressure of 5000kPa. It is manufactured in anodised aluminium in 6” & 8” diameters.

Flange Table E with Boa tail – galvanised

Popular Table E Flanges with Boa tails are available in galvanised steel in 6” & 8” diameters. Their working pressure is 1500kPa.

Bauer with Boa tail coupling set – galvanised

Boa-tailed Bauer couplings are available in galvanised steel in 6” & 8” diameters. Due to the pressure limitation of the Bauer rings, the working pressure for the Bauer couplings is 1000kPa.
